Logos

UBC standardized logos (also known as unit signatures) identify our Faculty as being part of UBC without diluting the brand.

Logos are available in UBC blue (navy), black and white.

Full logo

Standard and preferred format

Promotional

Features the name of the unit more prominently and can be used for marketing purposes.

Narrow

Use only if the full logo does not fit

Short name

Suitable when the UBC crest is already present and for audiences that already know that UBC stands for “The University of British Columbia”

Guidelines

The full logo is the primary format for schools/departments and units.

We advise against using more than one logo at a time. Exception: using the short name logo in conjunction with parent unit’s full logo.

Example: Nursing cover page

When the discipline takes precedence over Applied Science, use the short name logo with the Applied Science full logo.

  • Feature short name logo more prominently in the layout
  • Use the Applied Science full logo in the lock-up

Clearspace

Each logo should have sufficient clearspace around it. As shown, the clearspace surrounding the logo should be as wide (or wider than) the UBC crest’s width and height. Note that the downloadable logo files have clearspace built into them.

Misuses

Help us maintain the integrity of the logos. Use supplied assets only – do not reproduce, edit or recreate logos.

Do not:

  • Replace any text within the logos
  • Replace the typeface used within the logos
  • Skew or distort the logos
  • Reposition any elements from within the logos
  • Apply effects such as drop shadow, bevels, glows etc.
