Guidelines and Tips
Keep it ‘on brand’. Tip: For best effect, do not modify the font and logo size. Fit to the form and function of these templates.
Plenty of options. Consider using different headers for your various audiences. Tip: Once established, stay consistent for visual familiarity.
Logo or no logo?
For an external-to-UBC audience and for wider exposure: Logo recommended.
For an internal audience (APSC or UBC): Logo optional.
Keep it clean and simple. Tip: View from desktop and mobile to confirm that text is legible.
When to use imagery? Use images to showcase the theme, topic, brand and content of your email.
Reminder: Some recipients may not see your header image
Email systems at large organizations, such as UBC FASmail with Outlook, may have image filters emails so users may not see your images until they click to download pictures.
Tip: Be sure to add text sub heads and headings in your email content.
Accessing Templates through Canva
We’re transitioning to Canva for a more efficient, cost-effective design workflow. Canva offers a simpler alternative to traditional tools like Adobe.
Email Header templates are now available. Visit the Canva page to get started (EAD/CWL login may be required).
Template Variations
Each template suite has several variations (8 total per discipline) with or without an image, logos or text and appropriately sized as 560px by 250px. A selection of the different variations are shown below.
